Our Impact & Future Priorities
Since 2024, the Greenville Police Foundation has provided approximately $47,000 in direct aid to injured officers and their families. As our city grows, so does our responsibility. See where we’ve been and where we’re headed next, from K9s and equipment to officer well-being.
GPD Officer Testimonial
On May 28, 2024, officers attempted to take a suspect into custody after he assaulted another officer and tried to flee. During the arrest, I tackled him. When we hit the ground, I felt a pop and immediately lost feeling in my left arm. I was transported to the hospital, where tests confirmed I had torn my pectoralis major and would require surgery. I was told recovery could take six months, with the possibility the surgery might not fully repair the injury, leaving me with a permanent tear.
While processing the injury was difficult, my biggest concern was how I would support my wife and son. Law enforcement salaries are modest, and overtime is often essential income. Because I was placed on light duty, I was unable to work overtime, and workers’ compensation reduced my pay to 60% of my normal salary.
Within two weeks of my injury, the GPF reached out and reassured me they would support my family throughout my recovery. Knowing financial assistance was available gave us tremendous peace of mind and allowed us to focus on surgery and healing instead of financial stress.
The support provided to law enforcement families is truly invaluable. The comfort and stability it brought to my family during a difficult time is impossible to fully express, and we will always be grateful to the GPF.
A Call to Support an Injured Greenville Officer
A Greenville police officer was ambushed in the line of duty by an incendiary device, sustaining severe, life altering injuries.
This officer stepped forward to protect our community, and now faces a long and difficult recovery. The impact reaches beyond the officer alone, affecting their family and loved ones during a time of sudden uncertainty.
The Greenville Police Foundation is providing immediate financial assistance and ongoing support to help ease this burden, but we cannot do it alone.
We are asking our community to stand with this officer.
Your support ensures that those injured protecting Greenville are not left to face recovery alone. Please give today and help us care for an officer who gave everything in service to our city.
In May 2026, the Greenville Police Department lost Sgt. Ashley Muñoz in a head-on crash that also took the lives of Diana’s parents. Sgt. Diana Muñoz was severely injured.
This September, just four months later, Diana returned to duty.
The fundraiser has ended, but you can still give: choose the Diana Muñoz Family Support Fund from the drop-down menu. Every gift goes directly to Diana and her children.
Thank you for standing with this family.
